COMPUTER CRIMES

1. What is computer crime?
  Answer: Computer crime or cybercrime is a form of crime where the Internet or computers are used as a medium to commit crime. Issues surrounding this type of crime have become high-profile, particularly those surrounding hacking, copyright infringement, child pornography, and child grooming.
                 An increasing number of domestic and international criminal activities are using the Internet. Computers and other electronic devices can be tools to commit crime or are targeted by criminals. A personal computer connected to the Internet without protection may be infected with malicious software in under a minute. This briefing discusses the scale and nature of computer crime, the technologies available to protect computers, and highlights the key policy challenges. 

2. Give an example of a computer crime not stated in the Computer Ethics blog.
  Answer: Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks Criminals can gain control of multiple computers and use them to attack a specific target or targets. This was done in 2004 by a Russian crime gang in an extortion attempt on UK gambling websites during the 2004 Grand National. The National High Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU) acted with Russian authorities to arrest those responsible and helped set up thenb Internet DDoS forum to share data about attacks.

3.What is stated in section 33a of Republic Act 8792
  Answer:   Hacking or crackling with refers to unauthorized access into or interference in a computer system/server or information and communication system; or any access in order to corrupt, alter, steal, or destroy using a computer or other similar information and communication devices, without the knowledge and consent of the owner of the computer or information and communications system, including the introduction of computer viruses and the like, resulting in the corruption, destruction, alteration, theft or loss of electronic data messages or electronic documents shall be punished by a minimum fine of One Hundred Thousand pesos (P 100,000.00) and a maximum commensurate to the damage incurred and a mandatory imprisonment of six (6) months to three (3) years.

4.In Visayas State University, there is an office that deals with protecting the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of those who publish their intellectual output works. What is this office that caters with IPR concerns? Who is the head of this office?

Module 1 and 2 questions with answers:))

 1. If you are to become a part of the VSU team who will formulate a handbook like that of Virginia University, give at least 2 policies that you want to be implemented in VSU or even just for CS students like you, regarding computing. Also include sanction or sort of punishment to those who will violate the said policy.
     If I were a part of a VSU team who will formulate policies to be implemented in regarding computing, I will suggest that:
   a. Make a Personal Account. So that they can make their assignments or can read/study the soft copy of their lessons that is online, and for those who violate these policy will be expel in the University. 
   b.  Security and Privacy. Make their username and password.For those who steal the password of the certain people or will not follow  the privacy of others, threatened the users will be expel from our university.

 2. According to the definition of ethics, it can be connected to the norms or custom of the society. What could be ethical to one, could be unethical to another. If this is the case, in which ethics seem to be subjective in nature, why is there a need to study computer ethics at all? Support your opinion with facts.
   
    For me it is very important to study computer ethics or be a part of it because it can help us understand that maybe some things are ethical to one,could be unethical to another. It is very true because right make us behave like responsible professionals, or should we say remind us of what is right or wrong in studying computer ethics or in computer field served us our guide as a computing as computing professionals.

 3. There are 4 types of non-jural law. Divine, natural, moral and physical. If you are to practice just one type of the non-jural law for the entire existence of your life, what would it be and why? 
   For me, I prefer to practice divine law among the 4 types of non-jural law divine law because its all about our creator the God's law coz in these law we owe our lives to God coz  whatever happen my faith in god will always there and i always honor him even if i had many problems comes in my life god is always their for me or for us, coz he gave problems that have also a solution and we individual do that solution. That's why i choose Divine Law.
